Cookies
A cookie is a small text data-file that is placed on your hard disk by some of the sites that we link to from Easytorecall's Web pages and from our Newsletter.
One good example of such a site is Amazon. For example, if you view, say, a Star Trek DVD, then they will put this information in a text file on your hard drive. Then next time you visit them they will read this file and use it to display the latest Star Trek products on their homepage.
You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. But note that a cookie is merely a text file and cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Also it cannot take any information from your computer. So Amazon, for example, can write information to this file and read the same information but can do nothing else.
Note also that if you turn off cookies, there may be some features of many sites that will not be available to you and some Web pages may not display properly.
You can find information on popular browsers and how to adjust your cookie preferences at the following websites:
Microsoft Internet Explorer: http://www.microsoft.com/info/cookies.htm
Netscape Navigator: http://www.netscape.com/legal_notices/cookies.html
