Competitors
may claim a half-point bye in any one round before the start of the
congress. There will be a
Commentary Room at this tournament with a demonstration board showing
one of the top games from the tournament live. We hope it will be a
lively place with plenty of debate! This may also be used for some
beginner to intermediate chess tuition depending on demand. Both the
commentary and lectures will be free. B.C.F.
Direct members may deduct £2 from their entry fee (please quote
membership number on entry form). Ungraded
players must provide evidence of their playing strength, including

of grading. Prizes for ungraded players will be at the discretion of
the organisers. The organisers
reserve the right to transfer competitors to other sections and to
cancel or split any section at their discretion. Smoking
is prohibited in the playing hall. Light
refreshements (Tea, coffee, soft drinks, sandwiches etc.) will be
available throughout the Congress. Players
